The Ogham Alphabet

Ogham (pronounced OH-am) is an ancient Celtic alphabet used in Ireland from the 4th-7th century CE. Characters are carved as notches along a central line, often on standing stones. The 20 original letters are organized into four groups of five, called aicmí.

Ogham Vowels (Aicme Aeiou)

Ogham vowels are represented by notches across the central stem line, unlike consonants which are lines to the left or right. These five vowels complete the traditional 20-character alphabet and are essential for writing complete words.
